In Islam, I Have Learned That Allah Really Dislikes Arrogance

In Islam, I have learned that Allah really dislikes arrogance. Since reverting to Islam, I have started seeing parts of myself I never used to question, and arrogance is one of the biggest. Humility is at the core of this religion, and protecting the heart from pride is essential to keeping a real connection with Allah. The more I learn, the more I see how delicate the path is and how much it asks of us in terms of character.

Since I reverted to Islam five months ago, I have realized there are many precious, delicate and very sensitive nuances that we must be conscious of to truly respect Allah and our religion.

I genuinely appreciate when people correct me and give constructive feedback because I want to learn how to be a better Muslim.

I believe it’s guaranteed that, even when we are consciously on the path, we will still make unintentional mistakes.

Recognising Arrogance as One of My Biggest Weaknesses

For example, one of my biggest weaknesses is arrogance. Since starting my journey in Islam, I have come to realize how arrogant I can be.

In Islam, I have learned that Allah really dislikes arrogance. I now understand that if I don’t constantly shed these layers of arrogance and humble myself, my heart and connection with Allah will be affected.

I believe that if we keep doing bad deeds without repenting and working on our character, our hearts risk becoming completely closed off from connection and guidance.

The more I sit with this, the more I notice arrogance hiding in small daily moments. A tone of voice, a quick judgement about someone, a feeling that I know better. Catching it early and bringing the heart back to humility is part of the daily work I have to keep doing.

Speaking About Others With Care

From my understanding of Islam, negatively criticizing others, especially publicly, is not allowed and can even be sinful.

Islam teaches us to be respectful and kind to one another. Every time we sin, it goes against us on our record (unless we repent, apologize, and strive to improve our character). In fact, sincere repentance and good deeds actually turn our mistakes into rewards. The story of prophet yunus in quran teaches us valuable lessons about patience and forgiveness.

If we have something to say about another person, the right way is to address it privately, with kindness, and only when it actually helps them. Speaking badly about people in public takes away their dignity, and Islam holds the honour of a believer very high.

A Sincere and Pure Heart Matters Most

From my personal experience and understanding of God, I believe that He doesn’t care if we are perfect or if we make mistakes. What matters most is having a sincere and pure heart. I believe God loves those who are sincere, and He guides and protects them the most.

I believe in the Day of Judgment, and I know it’s serious. We should all support each other to become better, for the sake of Allah.

When the intention is clean, even our failures become a way back to Him through repentance. That is what gives me hope on the days when I see how much character work I still have left, because sincerity is what He is really looking at.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Does Allah Really Dislike Arrogance?

Because arrogance is the root of so many other sins. It makes a person feel above guidance, above correction, and above the people around them. Islam teaches that all true greatness belongs to Allah alone, and arrogance from a created being directly opposes that truth.

How Does Arrogance Affect Our Connection With Allah?

If we don’t constantly shed layers of arrogance and humble ourselves, the heart and connection with Allah will be affected. A proud heart cannot fully receive guidance, mercy, or closeness, because there is no space left in it for the One who is truly above all.

What Does Islam Say About Criticising Others Publicly?

From my understanding of Islam, criticising others in a negative way, especially publicly, is not allowed and can even be sinful. Islam teaches us to be respectful and kind, and to address issues privately and with care rather than humiliating people in front of others.

What Happens When We Sin In Islam?

Every time we sin, it goes against us on our record, unless we repent, apologize, and strive to improve our character. Sincere repentance combined with good deeds can actually turn our mistakes into rewards, which shows the depth of Allah’s mercy for those who turn back to Him.

What Matters Most To Allah, Perfection Or Sincerity?

From my personal experience and understanding of God, what matters most is having a sincere and pure heart. He doesn’t care if we are perfect or if we make mistakes. He loves those who are sincere, and He guides and protects them the most.
