Knowing yourself honestly is one of the hardest things any human can do, but it is the foundation of everything in Islam. Being brutally honest with myself about my mistakes and quick to repent is what has kept my connection to Allah alive. This reflection is a reminder for me as much as it is for anyone reading.

Called to Islam Because of Honesty
I believe one of the main reasons Allah called me to Islam is because He knows how abnormally honest I am with myself.
Honesty is not something I chose; it is how I am built. Looking back, I can see this was the trait Allah used to guide me toward the truth of Islam, because sincere honesty leaves no room for excuses.
Owning Up and Repenting Constantly
I know that if I don’t own up to my mistakes and repent constantly, I will be blocked from His guidance and connection.
Denial is a fast route to disconnection. The moment I catch myself slipping, I bring it straight to Allah, name it clearly, and ask for forgiveness so nothing sits between Him and me.
Nothing Worse Than Being Disconnected
There is nothing worse in this life than being disconnected from Allah.
Once you have known His presence, the emptiness of disconnection is unbearable. That is what makes protecting the connection the highest priority every single day.
Never Jeopardise the Connection
Once you become conscious of Him, you will never let anything jeopardise that connection.
Awareness changes everything. Once you can feel the difference between being with Him and being far from Him, you naturally refuse to trade that closeness for anything.
Connection Determines Our Value
Our connection with Allah is what determines our value and status in this life and the next life.
What people think of us fades. What Allah records is what remains. The strength of our relationship with Him is the true measure of our worth in both worlds.
Good Character on the Day of Judgement
On the Day of Judgement, we will not only have our deeds weighed, but the heaviest thing on our scale will also be good character.
That’s why I love Islam so much, because being an actual true Muslim FORCES us to constantly work on improving our character.
Islam does not let you get away with lazy behaviour. It constantly pushes you to be more patient, more kind, more humble, and more honest, because character is what will weigh heaviest when we stand before Him.
We Are Only Accountable for Ourselves
We have no control over others who are blind and deaf to His guidance; they will not hear no matter how much we try to get them to see and understand. We are only accountable for our own decisions and actions.
Not all Muslims are playing the game properly, and they give Islam a bad reputation, and they confuse and misguide people.
My job is not to fix anyone; it is to keep my own record clean before Allah. Once I let go of trying to change others, I found so much more energy for the work Allah is actually asking of me.
No One Escapes the Day of Judgement
People can hide from the truth of themselves and their actions as much as they like, but at the end of the day, no one will escape the Day of Judgement.
We have to remember this life is not our real home; it is only temporary. It is a test of how much we remember, worship, and believe in Allah.
I never expected in my life I would become religious; my life journey has shown me clearly that Islam is the truth.
What we hide from in this life will be exposed on that Day. Living with that awareness now makes it much easier to be honest, humble, and consistent while there is still time.
