One of the Biggest Sins in Islam Is Shirk

Shirk, associating partners with Allah, is one of the most serious sins in Islam, and understanding it has been life-changing for me. Once you realise that no human, no material thing, and no worldly attachment is meant to sit next to Allah in the heart, life becomes so much clearer and lighter. The freedom that comes from worshipping Him alone is the exact freedom past leaders tried to hide from people, and I want to share what I have understood.

One of the biggest sins in Islam is shirk (associating partners with God). We must only worship Him; no one else, nothing else is above Him or beside him: no humans, no family members, friends, worldly attachments; money, fame, success, business, etc.

You Can Have Everything, But It Must Be for His Cause

You can have everything in this life that you want (halal), but it must be for His cause.

In Islam, we literally are not allowed to fear any human or think that any human is above us or below us.

Wealth, success, and influence are all permitted, but only when they serve Allah’s cause. The moment they take His place in the heart, they become the very trap Islam warns us against.

Understanding Requires a High Level of Consciousness

It is so complicated, and you have to have a very high level of consciousness to understand all this, but basically the people of the past for example the Roman Empire, used to worship statues or idols, they encouraged a belief system that these idols and statues have divine power and can help them.

These ideas are heavy, and they took time for me to truly grasp. But once the picture opens up, you realise how many hidden forms of shirk are still around us today under different names.

How Past Scriptures Were Corrupted

It’s so strange, and I am still getting my head around it all. Still, basically my understanding is that they were not able to stop the original, pure religion of Christianity. Hence, the Roman Empire leaders pressured church leaders to corrupt the scriptures and belief systems that God previously revealed.

Important parts of the religious scriptures were removed and changed by humans so that Christianity became a mix of truth and the previous pagan religious beliefs (worshiping a human is the equivalent of worshipping a statue).

When human hands are allowed to edit divine scripture, the message inevitably gets distorted. This is why the preservation of the Quran, unchanged since it was revealed, is such a mercy from Allah.

Why Leaders Wanted to Be Worshipped

The leaders of these past time civilizations wanted people to worship them and obey them instead. It makes people feel insecure if their societies were to get empowered and learn that when you believe in Allah and are directly connected to Him with no blockages, no one on this earth can harm you, He is the ultimate protector.

Real belief in Allah threatens anyone whose power depends on being feared or worshipped. That is exactly why the truth has always faced resistance from those who benefit from keeping people spiritually dependent on humans.

Worshipping Humans Blocks Connection

When people have a belief system that they must worship humans or believe that a human has power over them, that belief system is very dangerous and blocks the connection to Him.

When you start learning about all this and become aware of all the discrepancies in previous religious scriptures it is just so obvious.

Once you see it clearly, you cannot unsee it. Every form of putting a human, an object, or an attachment in Allah’s place is a blockage that stops the heart from reaching Him fully.

Why Is This All So Important?

The Day of Judgment is the ultimate end of the world, when all humanity is resurrected to account for their deeds.

Absolute justice prevails as every person will face exact recompense, determining their eternal destination: Paradise or Hellfire.

The urgency behind all of this is the Hereafter. Every act of worship, every attachment, every belief we carry will be measured, and the outcome is either Paradise or the Fire.

The Signs and the Day Itself

The approach of the Day is preceded by minor signs (e.g., widespread moral decline, loss of honesty, and natural disasters) and major signs mentioned in the Quran.

The world will be destroyed and Humanity will be gathered in a vast, flat land known as Al-Mashar, where they wait for judgment under extreme heat, sweating according to the severity of their deeds.

Each individual will be presented with their Book of Deeds, detailing every action. These deeds are weighed on a divine scale.

Reading about the Day of Judgment in detail from the Quran and authentic hadith puts every worldly worry into perspective. It reshapes what you consider important and how you spend your time now.

The Solution: Take the Pillars Seriously

I believe a powerful solution to this problem is for all the Muslims who know the truth to take the obligatory pillars prescribed in the Quran more seriously.

Then as a collective consciousness, this would have a profound impact in the region to make a big difference and call others to the truth.

The pillars are not just personal duties; they are also community protection. When enough believers hold them properly, the collective consciousness shifts, and the region itself begins to change.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Shirk And Why Is It One Of The Biggest Sins?

Shirk is associating partners with God. It is one of the biggest sins in Islam because Allah alone is worthy of worship. Nothing and no one, no humans, family, friends, money, fame, success, or business, is meant to be above or beside Him in our hearts.

Can Muslims Still Enjoy Success And Wealth?

Yes. You can have everything in this life that you want, as long as it is halal, but it must be for His cause. The issue is not owning things, it is letting them take Allah’s place in the heart.

Why Were Past Scriptures Corrupted?

Past leaders, such as those of the Roman Empire, pressured church leaders to corrupt scriptures because they wanted people to worship them and obey them. Parts of the original revelations were removed or changed, mixing truth with older pagan practices, which is why worshipping a human ended up being the equivalent of worshipping a statue.

Why Is Fearing Humans Considered A Blockage?

Because Allah is the only true source of power and protection. When you believe you must fear a human or that a human has power over you, that belief blocks the direct connection to Him. When you are connected to Him, no one on earth can harm you.

What Is The Solution To All Of This?

For all the Muslims who know the truth to take the obligatory pillars prescribed in the Quran more seriously. When the pillars are honoured properly on a wide scale, the collective consciousness shifts, and it becomes possible to make a real difference in the region and call others to the truth.
