One of the biggest lessons I have learned since coming to Islam is that Allah looks past labels and looks straight at the heart. Sincerity, character, and how we behave when no one is watching matter far more than the culture we were born into or the community we are seen with. Islam is the truth, but truth without sincerity is empty, and I want to share what I have understood.
This is so true, I love this so much.
The main thing Allah cares about is the sincerity that’s in our hearts and our character.
Cultural Muslims vs. Sincere Hearts
There are so many people that consider themselves Muslims culturally because they were brought up in an Islamic society but their character can be completely not aligned with Islam (God), and they give Islam a bad reputation.
And there are people from other religions or brought up with no religion at all, and they can have the most sincere heart, and they are naturally conscious about what is right and what is wrong, and they do the right thing when no one is looking because they know deep down He is watching.
A label alone does not make someone a believer. What matters is how the heart is aligned and how the person behaves in private, because that is what Allah is actually measuring.
Two Types of People in the World
There are only 2 types of people in the world: those who believe and those who don’t believe.
To me, it is so simple and clear: only worship Him, no one else, nothing else is above Him or beside him, no humans, no attachments, you can have everything in this life that you want (halal), and don’t fear anyone or anything; only fear Him.
Once you accept that reality, life becomes much simpler. Every decision passes through one filter, is this pleasing to Allah or not, and everything else falls into place from there.
Islam Is the Truth and the Straight Path
Islam is the truth, and it is the straight path to get you closer to God; it is so liberating.
There are levels of consciousness; you can find God without Islam; however, Islam is the only true religion and it is the only religion that is accepted by God. All other religions and belief systems are false, manmade, inaccurate or corrupted.
Islam is the only way to get to really know God accurately. It was so strange for me even to get to know God through Islam once He revealed to me that it is the truth, it took me some time to process it.
Once I actually studied Islam properly, the confusion I had held for years lifted. It is the clearest and most direct path back to Allah, and it is a mercy that this guidance has been preserved for us to follow.
A Framework to Stay Closely Connected
Islam provides a framework to get close to Him and stay closely connected to Him. Once we get connected, we have to stay there, if you don’t know about His attributes due to your ignorance of Islam, it is not possible to reach him at the closest level that you can reach Him if you understand His attributes in order to be completely aligned as much as possible.
Knowing His attributes changes how you worship. The more I learn the names of Allah and what they mean, the deeper my prayers become and the closer my heart is able to reach Him.
Sins in Islam You Would Not Expect
There are so many things in Islam that are sinful that you wouldn’t expect; inpatience, discontentment, shirk (major sin), we literally are not allowed to fear any human or think that any human is above us or below us, this is why previous leaders over the centuries corrupted the scriptures and beliefs systems in past religions because they wanted people to worship them and obey them, it makes them feel insecure if their people get empowered and learn that when you believe in Allah and are directly connected to Him with no blockages, no one on this earth can harm you, He is the ultimate protector and He provides our sustenance, no matter what situation we are in, He has power over ALL things.
Learning what actually counts as sin was eye-opening for me. Small things I never took seriously turned out to be much heavier than I realised, and knowing this is part of what shapes true character.
Worshipping Humans Blocks Connection
When people have a belief system that they must worship humans or believe that a human has power over them, that belief system alone blocks the connection to Him.
This is one of the most freeing truths in Islam. No human, no matter their title, wealth, or influence, has power over you when you are connected directly to Allah, and that certainty removes so much fear from life.
Islam Makes Sense With an Open Mind
Islam can seem so strange if you are not familiar with it, like me, brought up in a Western society, but when you have an open mind, you can start to understand why everything in Islam makes sense when you are ready to hear it.
The fear people carry about Islam usually disappears the moment they actually study it with sincerity. Every piece of guidance has wisdom behind it, and when your heart is ready, that wisdom starts to reveal itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Does Allah Care About The Most?
The main thing Allah cares about is the sincerity in our hearts and our character. It is not the label we wear, the culture we come from, or the community we are seen with; it is the honesty of the heart and how we act when no one is looking.
Can Someone Be A True Believer Without Being Raised Muslim?
Yes. There are people from other religions or brought up with no religion at all who can have the most sincere heart and are naturally conscious about right and wrong. They do the right thing when no one is looking because they know deep down that Allah is watching.
Why Do You Say Islam Is The Only True Religion?
You can find God without Islam, but Islam is the only one true religion and the only one accepted by God. All other religions and belief systems are false, manmade, inaccurate, or corrupted. Islam is the only way to get to know God accurately.
Why Is It A Sin To Fear Or Worship Humans?
Because no human has power over another. Allah is the ultimate protector and provider. When people build belief systems around fearing or worshipping humans, that belief itself blocks the direct connection to Him. Only He is above and only He should be feared.
What Should Someone Do If Islam Seems Strange To Them?
Come to it with an open mind. Islam can feel strange for anyone raised outside of it, but when you actually study it with sincerity, everything begins to make sense. The guidance is designed to bring you closer to Allah, and when the heart is ready, the truth reveals itself.
