My path into Islam did not start with religion; it started with pain. I had been unwell for around a year, and it was only after Allah pulled me towards the Quran that my body finally began to heal. What followed was one of the most intense purification processes of my life, and it led me directly into the wisdom of Prophetic Medicine. I want to share this whole journey because I know someone reading this needs to hear it.
In October 2025, I unexpectedly got called to Islam after suffering from a disturbing health issue for around 1 year.
The Quran Started My Healing
After I found Islam and started reading the Quran, my body finally started to heal and stabilize, and I finally started to get answers.
The Quran did what no doctor, no medication, and no lifestyle change had been able to do. Once I started reading it every day, the fog around my body and my mind began to lift, and clarity returned in a way I had not felt for a long time.
Taking Shahada and Learning How to Pray
Once I realised that Islam is the truth and I realised I was a Muslim, I took Shahada, started wearing a hijab, and I then learnt how to pray as the next step in the process.
My health completely stabilized for around 3 weeks as soon as I accepted Islam.
Each step felt like it was already waiting for me. Shahada, the hijab, and then the prayer, and with each one my body confirmed what my heart already knew, that this was where I was meant to be.
The Most Intense Purification Process
Then, after I started praying 5 times a day, I went through the most intense purification process you can imagine.
For 6 months, my body reacted severely as my heart was being purified of all the things in my character that were not aligned with Islam, such as anger, control, arrogance, resentment, reactions, and fear.
The prayers opened up a level of purification I did not even know was possible. Every trait Allah wanted removed came to the surface to be seen, felt, and released, and my body carried the weight of that process for months.
Released From the Belly of the Whale
After I completely surrendered to Allah’s Will and completely attached myself to Him and let go of all false worldly attachments and misalignments, I was then released from the belly of the whale and was delivered safely onto the shore to recover.
Just like the story of Prophet Yunus (AS), the way out was through complete surrender. The moment I stopped fighting and gave everything over to Allah, He lifted me out of the darkness and placed me somewhere safe.
Focused on Physical Healing
For the last few months, I have been focused on my physical healing.
The things that helped my physical healing were also teachings from Islam.
Once the heart was purified, the body needed time to rebuild. Every practice I turned to for physical healing was already in the religion, waiting for me to discover it.
Discovering Prophetic Medicine
I discovered that there is an entire protocol from Islam called Prophetic Medicine (Al-Tibb al-Nabawi).
Prophetic Medicine refers to the holistic guidelines, preventive care, and natural remedies mentioned in the Quran and verified Hadith, and combines physical, dietary, and spiritual healing.
Learning this changed everything for me. Islam already had a complete framework for healing 1400 years before modern wellness caught up to it, and it works because it treats the human being as a whole, body, heart, and soul together.
Prevention, Pure Food, and Spiritual Healing
Prophetic medicine focuses heavily on prevention and treating the body naturally with Dietary Moderation, eating Pure Healthy Food, and ongoing spiritual healing and purification of the heart (Relying on prayers, reading the Quran, and aligning oneself with Islam as a means of seeking relief alongside physical cures).
What you eat, how much you eat, and what your heart is carrying all affect your health. Prophetic Medicine ties these things together, and once you start living by it, the difference in the body and mind is undeniable.
Modern Medicine Is Also Encouraged
Medical treatment and modern medicine on the other hand is something that is completely accepted and encouraged in Islamic teachings however from my past experience of being a nurse and as well what I just went through, I am firm in my belief that health can not be fully sustained without a purified heart, connection to Allah (God) and healthy dietary habits (the food we eat and the amount we eat).
Islam does not tell us to reject doctors; it tells us to combine both. As a nurse and as someone who has just lived through this, I know for a fact that treatment on its own is not enough. The heart has to be right, the food has to be right, and the connection with Allah has to be there for real, lasting healing.
Longevity Medicine Introduced 1400 Years Ago
Islam introduced Longevity Medicine 1400 years ago.
Long before the world had a name for it, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was teaching preventive care, mindful eating, spiritual purification, and natural remedies. What is being marketed today as new is actually part of a complete system Allah gave us more than a thousand years ago.
